No. Scanning and your list work without one. Sign in with Apple or Google only if you want sync and backup between phones.
Which cards does it know?
Pokémon Trading Card Game cards in English and Japanese. Sealed products such as booster boxes you add by hand.
Does it work in sleeves?
Yes. Thick top loaders can reflect, so tilt them away from the light. Hold the card flat and still, without glare on the holo.
